AFROBEAT LEGEND FEMI KUTI GRABS THIRD GRAMMY AWARD NOMINATION

Afrobeat singer Femi Kuti has been nominated at the 54th edition of the prestigious Grammy Awards.

Femi picked up his third ever nomination in the World Music Category for his ‘Africa for Africa‘ album last night Wednesday, November 30, 2011 when the list was unveiled at the ‘Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!‘ in Los Angeles, US.

In 2003, Femi, eldest son of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti picked up his first ever Grammy Award nomination but lost out to Panamanian salsa singer Rubén Blades. He similarly lost in 2010 when he was nominated in the same category. US banjo player Bela Fleck walked away with the award.

His recent nomination sees him up against Latin/Roots music band AfroCubism, South African male choral group Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Malian band Tinariwen.

Femi has vowed not to attend the Grammys again after losing out the first time he was nominated. Femi disclosed then that he regret attending the prestigious event.

Last year, he said;

"When I arrived at the red carpet, nobody came for me, my record company didn't come, I felt stupid and so I knew I could not win. I sacked my manager, a French man, and they sacked me too. The journey back home was very long. I felt sad. Since then I vowed never to attend the Grammy Awards again.

My father never went for any awards, and where they presented him an award, he didn't go personally and when they brought the award to him, he would send them back with the award. One day, I was at the World Music Awards and I brought the awards, he said did I send you? You better take it back. As I grew older, I understood what he was saying then."

BOUNCING BABY BOY FOR COBHAMS ASUQUO

The latest father in town now is Cobhams Asuquo.

The wife of the ace music producer has just delivered a bouncing baby boy.

Odunola gave birth to the bundle of joy yesterday afternoon at a hospital in the US.

Cobhams tied the knot with Odunola on December 2, 2010 in a low-key affair that took place at the Redemption Camp of the Redeemed Christian Church of God on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Congratulations to the family!

YORUBA MOVIE STAR,WUNMI CAUSES STIR IN MECCA

It was indeed drama galore when popular Yoruba actress Hassanat Taiwo Akinwande popularly known as Wunmi, who years back was arrested for a drug-related offence by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) went for the Holy Hajj in the town of Medina,Saudi Arabia to beg for forgiveness for her much advertised drug related sin.

According to an eye witness who was at the scene, the actress drew a lot of attention to herself when she was spotted by some group of worshipers who also went on the holy pilgrimage from Nigeria.

The actress was said to have displayed a care free attitude as fans and other pilgrims stared at her in consternation. The drama took a turn from comedy to an epic story when the actress was set to perform the traditional rite of “stoning the devil” which is customary with the Muslim holy pilgrimage.

Our source revealed that the actress, who said she could not allow herself to be stoned to death by the millions of worshippers who had come from far and wide to perform the same rite, simply dropped the stones which were supposed to be used for the rites by her.

An onlooker, who was beside the actress, was later seen talking to a Nigerian pilgrim.According to the onlooker,Wunmi was heard saying in her traditional dialect(Yoruba)” Satan this is your stone,I live and eat by the rule of the street, let me continue to succeed”

Our source revealed that as soon as she uttered that line she turned her back and exited from the area. The whole drama was said to have elicited a lot of furrowed eyes and frowns to some extent that even Wunmi herself could not comprehend why she created such jeers.

Let’s hope she has finally learnt her lesson from this ablution of sins, since the holy pilgrimage to Mecca is one of the five pillars of Islam and this Wunmi has performed.

FRESH WAR BETWEEN GENEVIEVE NNAJI AND STEPHANIE OKEREKE

If information at our disposal is anything to write home about, then the relationship between two actresses Genevieve Nnaji and Stephanie Okereke has got messier.

It was reported that the two friends are in feud over access to the Presidency and presidential aides.

According to our impeccable source, the rift started during the President GEJ campaign period when Nollywood started its fever pitch romance with politics.

We gathered that Stephanie was the arrowhead of the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s campaign contact group with the film industry.

At the height of the chummy relationship with the Presidency officials led by Presidential Adviser on Strategy and Documentation, Oronto Douglas, Genevieve and Stephanie were regular faces at Eko Hotel where meetings were held with film practitioners and at campaign rallies.

Along the line, Genevieve started seeing Oronto and other presidential aides at Raddison Blu Hotel, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Victoria Island, Lagos oftentimes without Stephanie’s knowledge.

Every other weekend at Raddison Blu Hotel, Genevieve is with Oronto and other girls at the presidential suites.

Findings revealed that the Presidential aides most especially Oronto Douglas who appears to be enjoying the company of Genevieve these days better than Stephanie, triggered the cold war as we learnt Stephanie is feeling being left out and she is not taking it lightly because she was the one who brought Genevieve into the presidency’s setting.

We shall keep you posted as events unfold.

DEATH AND BLINDNESS RUMOUR:MERCY JOHNSON IS ALRIGHT

Some days back, News of the People reported how mercy Johnson got blind in a movie. But from the looks of things, it seems people didn’t just take their time to read the full report, they only read the headlines and started spreading false rumors about charming Mercy Johnson.

Mercy’s publicist, Bigsam Media has finally opened about the death and blindness rumours.

"As at the time of writing this, blogosphere and entertainment industry is awashed with rumour that star actress, Mercy Johnson suffered blindness and experienced a terrible accident that led to her death.

This rumor has no resemblance or iota of truth. Mercy is on a movie location in Lagos and getting set for her trip to Australia in a matter of days.

After diligent investigation, we discovered the rumour started as a result of a publicity stunt initiated by producer of a movie where Mercy's character lost an eye. Another part of the rumor was started by detractor whose only goal is pull MJ down by all means.

It is despicable to note that these rumors were strengthened by writers who did not crosscheck before posting on their blogs, platforms or newspapers. We decry this act of insensitivity and irresponsibility especially as it affects family, friends and fans.

We appreciate family, friends and fans that have taken time to call out of concern and love and we wish to let them know that mercy is hale and hearty.

We implore bloggers and writers to kindly cross check reports on mercy with us to avoid using their platforms to promote falsehood and abate inappropriate ''PR stunts'' by those who want to sell their movies or those whose goal is to pull others down at all costs.

Our lines are always opened for enquiries.

Thanks for your understanding .

ACTRESS RUKY SANDA TALKS TOUGH ABOUT HER MANY SCANDALS

She is one of the most controversial acts in Nollywood but still walks head high as a popular Nollywood actress-cum-producer.

Although her popularity may not be on account of her acting prowess but she has just remained in the news over time. That she is an adventurous and outgoing actress, coupled with her beauty, makes her a name that keeps popping up on the scene.

In a recent interview, she opens up like never before.

Those saying that no actress can make headway without having a man behind her are insane.I don’t think they have any brain at all.As far as I am concerned,Iam single and people that know me will tell you I work very hard.I don’t care about the impression any one may have,I don’t care about what anybody says. They can tag actresses whatever they like,I am not bothered.

I think I have reached a stage in my career that nothing bothers me again. It was when I just started that such things used to bother me.At times,I would start contemplating throwing in the towel but now I have passed that stage.

Nothing could be written about me that moves me again.Even in most cases I don’t get to see them, and no one ever had the gut to say it to my face that I am this,I am that.

It’s amazing these scandals or gossip don’t bother me.It’s amazing how some people want to die over such. What bothers me is how I am going to move forward in my career, move to the next level.

I have a plan of what I do every year but one thing that is certain is that I do business which brings me money.I am a business minded person apart from acting.

I buy and sell.I sell clothes,I don’t just sell to everybody,I have a class of people that I buy clothes for.I sell in bulk.I sell other things so far they bring me money.

Acting has done a lot for me.I have the voice that so many people don’t have.I can say something I consider stupid now but it will matter to some people, that it may eventually have impact on their lives. So,I realized acting has given me a voice,it’s a rare opportunity.Having a voice means that people love to hear what you want to say.

People see you as role model, some people love you, some may hate you for no just cause, some people are jealous of you and all that.It makes me realize that oh!This is what I have and I am going to make use of it.I thank God I am moving on with my career, especially now that I am more involved in production.

THE MISERABLE LIFESTYLE OF STAR ACTOR KELVIN IKEDUBA

KELVIN IKEDUBA

In the Yoruba sector of the movie industry,Kelvin Ikeduba happens to be the most patronized Igbo actor as he moves from one movie location to the other with ease. Not only that,he is just too good at what he does and many have come to attribute this to his having been born and bred in Lagos.

Kelvin speaks fluent and undiluted Yoruba language although he is by birth from Delta State. He is at his best when interpreting gangster, bad boy or spoilt brat roles.

The gist about Kelvin is that his lifestyle has become worrisome to many of his pals and associates. What is most worrisome to many however is that despite his popularity and the fact that he gets regular jobs, both In the English and Yoruba sectors of Nollywood Kelvin still lives inside the room and parlor in which he was born. His pals in Ebute Meta told us that Ikeduba still lives in that apartment that was rented by his mother with his siblings.

This singular act of his has got many of his friends worried and they had on many occasions talked him into walking away to a more descent accommodation befitting a movie star of his status.

The situation got so disturbing that a friend we learnt, even told him that he will vacate his apartment,a mini flat, for Kelvin to take over.Interestingly, the friend was still having almost a year’s house rent already paid and the friend was not asking Kevin for refund.

We learnt that Kelvin declined the offer and even got angry and told the friend that he,the friend, was ridiculing him and that does the friend think he can’t afford a decent apartment. They said,Kelvin never took the offer. Many have come to attribute his love for the room and parlor apartment as an expression of his having phobia for good and decent home.

Others say it is all because Kelvin lacks focus even though he has the money for a better pad. They argue that Kelvin should have left the Ebute Meta home for his brothers and sisters and relocate somewhere else as a movie star even if it is Ikorodu where most Yoruba movie stars are residing either in their own houses or tastefully appointed rented apartments.

They argue that it will not stop him from taking good care of his siblings if that is his main reason for staying back in the ghetto where Kelvin is said by those who know him to come out in the morning to shout for ‘Omo Ologi’ and ‘Alakara’, meaning pap seller and bean cake seller.

Again,Kelvin who is in his late thirties or early forties is yet to be married and the argument is that no babe will want to be married to a movie star living in a room and parlor with his siblings.

Some people have however come to defend the movie star saying he might be waiting to be married before he moves to a decent apartment or that he is erecting a structure somewhere and prefers to wait and move in once and for all instead of renting another apartment.

Julie first child with Segun is about nine months old.

The AGN president has a daughter with ex-wife Anne Njemanze and another child from a previous relationship.

COMEDIAN BASKETMOUTH SHOWS OFF DAUGHTER,JANELLE.PLANS BIG DEDICATION PARTY

It’s common knowledge that top comedian Bright Okpocha’s (Basketmouth) wife Elsie delivered a baby girl a few months back in the United States of America.

The gist however, is that the new mum is back in town with her bundle of joy. As expected,Basketmouth whose first child Jason is a boy, has been doting on the little girl ever since.

Those in the know say his talks these days are on how beautiful his daughter is and how he is making plans to buy a gun to keep “predators” away. Beyond that, his main plans right now, is the arrangement of a grand dedication ceremony for the tot.

Insiders say the event will hold in a couple of weeks from now, most likely, the second week of December,2011 at Basket Mouth’s church somewhere in Anthony area of Lagos.

The stuff that is taking his time though is the reception which he wants to be grand and which will hold at his new home somewhere in Lekki.

I wear his diamond engagement ring while his ex-girlfriend has his spare key

I had gone to a nearby super market to get some provisions for the house when a cute little girl bumped into me. “O sorry madam. She could be naughty some times,” the man apologized. “It’s alright. Children love to run around in places like this. So, please let her be. Your daughter is beautiful,” I said. “She is actually my niece. By the way, my name is Richmond,” he said.

I also introduced myself as Phina. That was how Richmond and I met for the first time. The next time I saw Richmond again was two months after at a friend’s baby naming ceremony. In fact, I could not recognize him until he called my name. “Hello Phina, how are you?” I heard a baritone voice behind me. I knew I had heard the voice before, and as I turned, I saw Richmond. We exchanged pleasantries and then, phone numbers. From text messages to phone calls, then, one date to another and after four months of friendship, he informed me that his younger sister was going to mark her birthday that weekend and that he wanted me to be there.

Sweetheart, Selina would be marking her birthday this weekend, please you have to be there,” he pleaded. “How can I miss my friend’s birthday? I will surely be there,” I promised.

I got to the venue of the birthday early to ensure that everything went well as planned. From the first day I met his family, it was obvious that they all liked and accepted me. I feel comfortable whenever I am among them.

They are such a loving and caring family. They watch out for each other. When the birthday party was in full swing, Richmond took to the centre, clicking on the wine of glass he was carrying and said, “It is time to make a toast for my dear sister who is a year older today.” After the toast, he announced that there was an important assignment he must perform. He called me to join him, went down on his knee, brought out a diamond ring and said, Phina, please be my wife and the mother of my children. I was stunned and all eyes were on us.

I did not expect this Richmond but yes, I will be your wife and the mother of your children, I told him. He slipped the ring into my finger and gave me a long kiss. Immediately, guests started clapping, and this made me shy at the same time excited. One Friday evening, about two months after our engagement, I went to his house, knocked and a lady opened the door for me.

“Yes, who are you looking for?” she asked. “I want to see Richmond. Is he in? I asked. She told me he was not at home. “Tell him Phina checked on him when he comes back,” I said and left immediately. I was surprised to see another woman in his house because he lives alone. She was dressed in seductive clothes. “Who could she be? I know all his sisters, so who is she?” I asked myself. I was a bit angry but had to calm down so that I don’t jump into hasty conclusions. I called to find out where he was and he told me on his way home

I pleaded with him to come over to my house which he agreed to. Incidentally, we got there almost at the same time. I told him I went to his apartment and a lady opened the door. He should please tell me what I don’t know. “She is my ex-girlfriend, Whitney. She still has the spare key to my apartment. I have not seen her since we broke up. I don’t even know she is around,” he explained. “Well, since you now know, please collect the key from her,” I pleaded. He pleaded with me not to get angry and promised to collect it from her.

The next time I asked him, he told me she refused to give him the spare key emphasizing that they have not broken up; they only had a misunderstanding like every other couple. I suggested that he changed the front door lock but he told me it was not necessary. I have been to his house about five times and met her in his absence exhibiting the attitude of “I am the owner of this house”. I am not comfortable at all with this so I informed his family.

His mother ordered him to either collect his key from Whitney or change the lock but he still has not done any of that. It got to a point that whenever I bring up the topic, Richmond flares up and we end up quarrelling.

“Richmond is there something you are not telling me?

Who is Whitney to you?” I asked.

“As I told you earlier, she is my ex-girlfriend and nothing more.”

I cannot force her to give me the key. Whenever she is ready to hand over the key to me, she will,” he emphasized.

“Is that what you are telling me? How can I wear your engagement ring and another woman has the spare key to your house? I am very sure there is something you are not telling me,” I retorted. Our wedding is getting closer and right now I don’t know if I should still continue with the wedding plan.

From all indications, something must still be going on between them which Richmond is not willing to tell anybody.

Do you think the ring is enough insurance for me or should I quietly take a walk?

How do I explain the fact that I am wearing his engagement ring while his ex-girlfriend still has the spare key to his house?

Who has more rights as it is?

Jezebel's Reincarnate: Pastor's Wife Declares In Public

Wonder they say shall never end. Even the Holy Bible says, when the world is coming to an end, strange things would be happening. The Holy Quran also testifies to it.

Imagine a Pastor's wife who women in the church see as a role model but turned out to be Jezebel's reincarnate.

According to information at our disposal, a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC)'s Pastor's wife simply known as Bola, had confessed in public to be a witch.

Bola, the Pastor's wife who the congregation call “Mummy”, we learnt, confessed to be a witch during an anointing service which held at a Pentecostal church led by a popular man of God (names withheld) in Baruwa Ayobo-Ipaja area of Lagos State.

According to a reliable source, during the anointing service on 13th November, 2011 the Pastor of the church, a CAC Pastor and his wife had told the congregation that they had a special anointing service that anyone with confirmed witchcraft would die within seven days if he or she took part in the service.

It was at this time, we learnt that the CAC's Pastor's wife came out to confess. During her confession, she reportedly said that she was the one who turned her Pastor's husband to a wretch, because he used to support his younger brother who is living with them whenever they had disagreement at home.

Bola, who after serious rebuke of the evil spirits in her and persistent prayers, promised to re-instate her husband's glory, said, “I joined the witchcraft when my husband used to support his younger brother when misunderstanding happens in the family. I made my husband poor but now I'm ready to make him rich again”.

Our source said that when Bola's husband was asked if he was aware his wife had witchcraft, the Pastor, we learnt, said that he has been seeing it in the dream for a long while.

Meanwhile, the couple that has been married for 18 years now was then asked to go on seven days fasting and prayers to beg for forgiveness and for God to restore their lost glory.

CELEBRITY QUOTE: BINTA AYO MOGAJI

There was a time I was actually attacked in 1996 in Lagos because I played an ‘Amebo’ role in Tade Ogidan’s bestselling film.

People loved the character so much.

During that period, our people did not know the difference between acting and reality. They did not know I was actually doing my job as an actress. The ugly incident happened in Idumota area of Lagos Island.

I was just going to see one of our marketers and suddenly some Area boys just ambushed me in a tight corner and shouted at me:’ come and see the nasty and useless lady that betrayed that man in that Owo Blow film.’

My clothes were torn but a kind-hearted woman gave me a new pair of skirt and blouse to wear as she guided me into her shop.

It was an embarrassing moment in my life and since that incident in 1996;I always dress in a full Muslim Burkah to disguise my identity to avoid any trouble.

ACE MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTOR,CLARENCE PETERS MET IS WATERLOO-IN TROUBLE OVER N1.6M MUSICAL VIDEO

Two brothers,Uwana and Akan Victor, have sued Clarence Peters, son of Juju maestro,Sir Shina Peters,at a Federal High Court,Ikeja Lagos, for allegedly pirating a video he directed and produced for them in 2008.

The Victors, both Lagos based musicians, are seeking N40m as compensation and general damages from Clarence,a musical video director and producer, for allegedly using the clips and extracts from the said video without their authority or consent.

The brothers claimed that Clarence “manipulated and pirated” the said video, titled,”Make Money Flow” into “Waconzy’s ‘I Celebrate,” despite paying him for the services he rendered to them.

In their statement of claim filed by their lawyer,Mr.Yemi Omodele, the plaintiffs said they paid Clarence the sum of N900,000 for the shooting of “Make Money Flow”,and a separate sum of N650,000 for logistics and other expenses incurred in the process.

The plaintiffs claimed there was no written agreement for the transaction between them and Clarence because of the working relationship they had had with him.

They said,on February 27,2011 at about 4.30pm while watching Hitv cable station, they saw a video titled,I Celebrate” video being played on air. They added that they later discovered that the “I Celebrate” video contained substantial part of their”Make Money Flow”.

However,Clarence,in his statement of defence, said the plaintiffs only paid him N800,000 in two instalments-N650,000 and N150,000.

Clarence, whose recording studio is Capital Dreams Pictures,Lagos, admitted producing “I Celebrate” but said it did not infringe on the copyrights attached to the “Make Money Flow”.

He maintained that the copyright to the production of the video belonged to him.Clarence said he had an agreement with the plaintiffs to retain the creative and authorship right, when they pleaded to pay him the sum of N800,000 for the production instead of N1.6m he initially charged them.

Justice Steven Adah has adjourned the matter until December 1 for trial.

Princess, we just needed to remind you that rules are rules. You shouldn’t be doing casuals on the red carpet. It is a no-no. My jury loved your blouse so much, but they think you missed it with the jeans. Since you are a first time offender, you will be placed on six months probation while you render six hours of community service every Tuesday and Thursday until further notice. Next time get glammed up!

The story is the series of events or happenings which the scriptwriter or story-teller tells the audience about. Without the story, there's no movie. The audience will spend time and pay any amount for a good movie. Unfortunately, most of the stories told in Ghanaian movies are so insipid and prosaic that they are not worth sitting down to watch. The storylines are not intriguing, the themes are the same and overly repeated and plotting is very weak. The stories told by our scriptwriters does not mirror our society, it doesn't correct societal ills and therefore defeats orientation to change. The scriptwriters don't do research into technical areas-medicine, law, engineering, etc of writing and therefore ends up creating funny and untrue scenes. At the end of the day, they indict themselves. To further portray how lazy they are, they resort to plagiarizing Hollywood and Bollywood movies and retell them with weak plotting when Ghana is fraught with myriad number of untold stories. Ghanaian scriptwriters, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

THE DIRECTORS

The Director uses characters to interpret text-the script. Professionally we say: the scriptwriter tells the story but the Director shows the story. The Director visualizes the script told by the scriptwriter. In the first place, our stories are naff and most of our Directors too are not creative so garbage in garbage out. The Directors don't diamond polish the stories before they are shot. They don't do intensive pre-production meetings. The Directors don't cast the right actors/actress for roles and don't understand character development so they over utilize same faces on screens for most movies and in no time make the actors/actress image hackneyed on screens. The male Directors who're daring a bit to cast new characters for movies also crave to sleep with the female ones before giving them roles. Our Directors don't train or further their course in screen directing and therefore lack creativity, precision and skills. Just like our scriptwriters, our Directors too don't do research into technical areas-medicine, law, engineering, etc of writing and therefore ends up indicting themselves and directing as a profession. Ghanaian Directors, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

THE ACTORS/ACTRESSES

Our actors/actress are also “b??lo gbei” to the extent that they welcome any script at all and play roles that are not challenging. They live same characters in every movie and yet call themselves movie stars. They feature in weak storyline productions that the ordinary person on the street even cringes at. Just like the scriptwriters and Directors, Ghanaian actors/actress don't do research into technical areas-medicine, law, engineering, etc of writing and therefore ends up indicting themselves.

They refuse to further their education and training on screen acting yet they are busy running to Hollywood. What are you going to do there? You have not finished growing your own movie industry but you're hastily going to add your contribution to the growth of another movie industry. Even basic terminologies in acting most of them don't know yet they always brag about how they do research about their roles and characters before shooting. Once I asked an actor how long his character worksheet was and this famous actor was all over the place.

He didn't know what character worksheet is meanwhile he's been reading character worksheets ever since he started acting but he doesn't know. Each time Ghanaian actors/actress are seen in foreign movies, the best of their acting skills are seen and felt. These same actors and actress are seen in Ghanaian movies and they portray flat and loose emotion laden skills. It's obvious they put all their hearts into acting when it comes to foreign movies than Ghanaian movies. Ghanaian actors/actress, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

THE PRODUCERS/INVESTORS

Most of the producers are cheats! They pay scanty fees to actors/actress. They don't care about the welfare of the production crew-light man, soundman, make-up artist, personal assistants, etc. Producers lure actors/actress into shooting and after shooting, claim to their balance fees becomes a tag of war. Most producers don't pay SSNIT for their production crew talk less of providing insurance policy coverage for them. On set production crews are not respected, food to eat is absent and yet they have to work tirelessly at the peril of their lives at dawn, in the scorching sun, at late nights, in cemeteries, thick forests and sometimes at stinking locations all in service for peanuts.

When it comes to movie premiers, the production crew who worked diligently on set to produce the movies are not given tickets for premiers. At least one good turn deserves another. They buy tickets for premiers just like the ordinary movie-goer. No preferential treatment. Ghanaian producers and investors, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

THE MASS MEDIA

Broadcasters, art writers and presenters who many a time are privy to watching some movies before they are premiered and know sincerely in their hearts the movies are mediocre are the same people to hype with sardine-tongues and luring articles respectively. Movie-goers go for premiers and feel cheated and disenchanted. The effect is that, next time, the eye-opened movie-goer drags feet from attending premiers and the movie-maker suffers. Because of the “nokofio”, the mass media have sold their dignity and credibility into the mud when it comes to reviewing movies after premiers. Ghanaian mass media, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

THE PIRATES

After hustling from one location to the other with hard earned capital to produce movies, some unscrupulous and lazy people called pirates also hide in obscured places, duplicates the movies, sell and make cool-chop monies into their pockets at the expense of the real movie-maker. With their quick systems, they even sell more copies than the actual owners or producers of movies.

Most movie-makers have wind up because of pirates. Existing movie-makers cry foul everyday because pirates are eating freely out of their investment while they only make looses or break-even. The pirates could be foreigners staying in Ghana and sabotaging our movie-makers but the point is who do they collaborate with......? The Ghana man! So why would new investors invest in movies for our movie industry to grow? Ghanaian pirates, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

THE AUDIENCE

The audience are also contributors to the killing of the Ghana movie industry. Ghanaians have strong proclivity for foreign movies at the expense of our own Ghanaian movies. Ghanaian movie fans love to watch foreign storylines than watch true Ghanaian stories. Ghanaians despise our own movies that depict who we are, our culture, costume, locale and values.

The same storyline and theme if seen in foreign movies are accepted by Ghanaians but if seen in Ghanaian movies, they bastardize it. Ghanaians see nothing wrong and enjoys watching witchcraft in Harry Porter but if Socrates Sarfo portrays witchcraft in “Kyeiwa”, he's tagged as an unprofessional movie-maker. Ghanaians will patronize Prison break or Heroes season one to infinity. If Socrates Sarfo produces movies with part 1, 2, 3......he will be called an unprofessional movie-maker, simply because” Kwasi Broni” has changed the label-name from part to seasons, reloaded, chapters, etc. This is what I call common-sense-illusion. Ghanaians will patronize erotic-scenes movies like “I Like To Play Games” and “Original Sin” but if they watch Socrates Sarfo's “Hot Fork”, they hypocritically clamour as if hell just descended unto the earth.

My point is, if we want to protect morality, then let's all do so rather than patronize sexuality oriented foreign movies and grow their movie industry while ours stunt. The Ghanaian, especially the educated and elite class prefer to watch Hollywood movies just to prove that he/she is educated or civilized. The audience prefer describing Twi-oriented movies local movies just to describe them as sub-standard forgetting that every movie produced in a particular confinement-community, region, country, continent, etc is a local movie. So Hollywood movies are local movies to Americans. Another common-sense-illusion. Ghanaian movie audience, you're killing the Ghana movie industry!

OTHERS

Others could be anybody at all. Government who don't support the movie industry with funds and protective laws, parents who don't motivate their wards to enter into acting or scold their daughters and sons for immoral acting, pastors who don't come out to chastise movie producers for producing morally corruptive movies, Movie CD sellers who rent out CD'S instead of selling them, the average movie fun who loves to rent instead of buy the CD and the list goes on unabated. We're all killing the Ghana movie industry!

From the above, you will agree with me that we as Ghanaians by our actions and inactions are killing our own movie industry. We're all to blame for the one step forward and two step backward growth of our movie industry. If all of us-scriptwriters, Directors, producers, actors/actress, media and the audience will all get cracking and do the RIGHT THING, the Ghana movie industry will soar like an eagle and gain international recognition. Until then........MOTWUM!!

Every Ghanaian living in Ghana is to blame for killing the Ghana movie industry.

FRIENDS IN COLD WAR WITH SOUL E-OVER SECRET WEDDING

Recall that we brought a report to you few weeks back that soul singer,Emmanuel Ifechukwu Okose, otherwise known as Soul E has wedded his heartthrob Petula Delinda at Ikoyi Marriage Registry,Lagos State.

While the story was brewing,Soul E granted an interview to a Lagos based softsell magazine insisting that he has not married again and does not know who Petula Delinda, the same babe he met on Facebook two years back is.

However, his close friends revealed to us that Soul E is being economical with the truth as they were aware that he has married this Abuja base banker secretly and has refused to inform anybody about.

They disclosed to us that a good number of them are no longer on talking terms with Soul E,because he exhibited very unfriendly attitude by walking down the aisle without giving them a hint of it.

One of his close friends informed that Soul E has forgotten all his friends again, the same way he did few years back when he got married to Queen Ure Okezie.

According to him,Soul E should be aware that all his friends have the knowledge of his court marriage with the Abuja based banker, and should stop denying his responsibility just to save face.

CELEBRITY QUOTE: STAR ACTOR YEMI SOLADE

It was this Bunmi Oladipo that wanted me,just as a lot of people do and after accepting her,we chatted for a day and that was it.I think about a week or more after,I started having problems with my PIN.I am using Glo and it was so frustrating. Then the thing came on again. She now called me again and started doubting if I am the real Yemi Solade.I now asked her how do I begin to prove who I am to you again.I have told you my real name. She now said most people do all sorts of things, and I said well, since I am not any other person,I can’t be part of such things. My name is Yemi Solade. So,we had it all then and after the crash of the Blackberry thing,I came back adding people afresh.

Because she had my number, she now called me to be sure I was the one.She now started talking with a different accent,I didn’t believe it was the same person I spoke with earlier.I now said,no,no this couldn’t have been the person that called me who I had chatted with, who was okay on phone when we had a chat.

I now discovered she was being cantankerous and left.I hate nonsense,I just blasted her immediately.I now went to Facebook and wrote there that if someone I thought was a professional, who called herself a lawyer in New York,United States of America, who I expected a lot of decorum from would behave this way,let me alert other celebrities. That was why I went on my Facebook again and wrote,”Try to watch out for this so,so person.

Maybe I am the one who ignited what she did eventually but I have not read anything she has written about me and I am not bothering myself about anything like that.

I asked people, how is it possible to harass her sexually through BB? Maybe she got my pictures where I was recording.

You can imagine a person who claims to be a housewife with children.

Let the court case come,we will see how she will establish it that somebody was harassing her sexually through BB.They will help me ask her how she got my PIN in the first place.

I did not marry Aki because of his money or fame - Nneoma Ikedieze

The Mass Communication graduate of Enugu State University spoke briefly to Uche Olehi of Encomium mag during her wedding ceremony last weekend. Excerpts:

How did you two meet?

Nneoma: We met in Lagos. We worked in a production together. I was a costumier. I have always been seeing him, I just like his lifestyle. So we became friends and from there the journey began.

How did you know he was your man?

Nneoma: I am not a friend keeping type, but when I meet my friend, I know. We have been friends and I think I saw what I like in a man in him.

What are the qualities you saw in him?

Nneoma: Chinedu is very intelligent and smart.

What was your parents reaction when you told them you are getting married to Aki?

Nneoma: They were not surprised. My dad was like 'waoo, you go ahead if he is your choice.

Would you say it is a natural love you have for Chinedu?

Nneoma: Yes. I just love him naturally.

What do you really want changed in Chinedu?

Nneoma: Nothing to be changed. He is okay for me.

Many people believe you are going for his money and celebrity status?

Nneoma: That is cheap talk. They can say whatever they want to say. I married Chinedu Ikedieze, I did not marry Aki.

CHIKA IKE'S RIVAL IS SIX MONTHS GONE

Recall that we brought a report to you few weeks back on top actress Chika Ike’s marriage break up and in that story we stated that Ms. Ike’s estranged husband did not put his mistress in a family way as believed by many people?

Going by reliable information reaching us,the denial of her former husband of having a mistress and putting her in a family way is one the many lies that this pretty, scandal free turned controversial actress has built around herself to save face.

As gathered,Chika’s husband,Mr.Ebieri was guilty of the same offence that his wife was fingered of committing. He has a mistress who we gathered was taking over the duties of his wife anytime she either traveled out of the country for her many businesses or went on movie location.

Mr.Ebireri went extra miles to put the lady whose name was withheld in a family way, leading to the break up of his marriage as Chika moved out of her matrimonial home.

As you read this page, the lady is six months gone with her pregnancy.

WILL KATE HENSHAW LOSE PROMASIDOR ENDORSEMENT DEAL?

It is no longer news that star Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has separated from Mr.Roderick Nuttal, her erstwhile husband.

The crash of their former cozy relationship seems to be unfolding other stories surrounding her business and life.

According to information gathered from reliable sources, there are strong indications that Ms. Henshaw is in danger of losing her endorsement contract with Promasidor.

The deal that has not only taken her to different Universities around the country, made her popular in various states of the federation, but also positioned her as one of the best mothers in Nollywood.

As gathered, the irreconcilable differences between the estranged husband and wife is on the way to bring financial damages to the actress. This is because Mr.Nuttal was alleged to be the brain behind Ms. Henshaw’s Onga Seasoning endorsement owing to his relationship with the Managing Director of Promasidor, the makers of Onga Seasoning.

The Briton citizen was said to have capitalized on his personal relationship and influence to get the endorsement for his wife.

As the relationship which produced one daughter is no longer in existence, insiders disclosed that Ms. Henshaw has lost this endorsement deal, insisting that the contract will not be renewed after this season.

Reason being that Mr.Nuttal will no longer speak on behalf of Ms. Henshaw who is no longer his wife.

STAR ACTOR JIM IYKE IN FRESH TROUBLE

Top actor James Ikechukwu Esemugha popularly known as Jim Iyke seems to be in fresh trouble. As you read this page, the dark skin sexy dude is no longer sleeping in his mansion at Federal Capital Territory,Abuja. The problem responsible for his escape from home has nothing to do with the alleged N15 million court case. According to information gathered,he got into fresh trouble over his acclaimed brand new Cameron SS Convertible and Plymouth Prowler Convertible cars worth N16 million. As revealed by insider sources,Jim is not the original owner of the two wonders-on-wheels which he claimed to have bought last month. We reliably gathered that the two expensive cars were handed over to Jim by his close friends who is based in UK to take care of pending when they will return to Nigeria and have need to use the cars. Rather than adhering to his agreement with his pals,Jim not only hit the streets of Abuja with the automobiles but also alleged falsified information that he acquired the two cars for N16 million. According to his close pals, the truth about the real owners of those cars came to the open last week when they stormed Abuja and demanded their Camero SS Convertible and Plymouth Prowler Convertible from the talented actor. Jim’s close friends who begged anonymity disclosed that on seeing the cars they became furious and insisted that Jim has on the process of using their cars inflicted damages on them, after minutes of argument they told him that the case will be settled at the Police Station as they were ready to invite the Police over. Immediately they left his compound,Jim allegedly ran away from his house and left the two cars where his embittered friends can easily pick them and leave in peace. They equally revealed to us that the Nollywood actor gave the media false information concerning the cost price of these automobiles,as they got the cars with N13.3 million. They insisted that they got the dark color Plymouth Prowler for $43,000 while Camero SS went for $40,000. However,Jim had already left his mansion when they arrived with the Police;it was informed that they quietly left with their cars.It is not clear if Jim has moved back to his house now,as sources informed that till penultimate weekend,Jim was still unable to return to his house. It was equally disclosed to us that most of former posh cars paraded by Jim Iyke do not really belong to him,as his friends who are based in UK,US,Europe and Canada usually give him cars to keep for them till their return, while others send cars for him to sell. In these situations,Jim is said to have flaunted the cars as if they rightfully belong to him. Such cars include;Chryslers,Rolls Royce,Range Rover,G-Wagon and many others.

E-x-c-l-u-s-i-v-e: Gov. Uduaghan Gives N3m To Enebeli Elebuwa For His Treatment

Enebeli Elebuwa Reports getting to africafokus.Com confirms that the N3m pledged to Nollywood's actor, Enebeli Elebuwa, by the Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan has been redeemed. Confirming this to africafokus.Com is the president of the Actor's Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Segun Arinze via a text message. He noted that Gov. Uduaghan has redeemed the pledge of N3m earlier promised the actor for his paralysis treatment at the hospital. The Governor had come under attack in the media for cancelling an earlier visit to the veteran actor at the last minute when he was in Lagos two weeks ago, after the actor had called for his help. Enebeli was hit with a strange stroke some months ago. He was first hospitalized at St Luke's Hospital, Yaba before being moved to St Tropez Hospital, Surulere, Lagos two Saturdays ago. Pa Enebeli had earlier called on his state Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan for support for his stroke treatment at the hospital. The right part of the actor's body has been paralysed and he is now receiving treatment at the hospital.

FALLY IPUPA/CAPITAL F.E.M.I FIGHT OVER GHANAIAN ACTRESS NADIA BUARI

FALLY IPUPA This certainly might not be the best of times for the likes of Capital Femi,an artiste with Kennis Music and international Sukus singer Fally Pupa as both artistes are at daggers drawn over who has more right to love fair skinned and beautiful Ghana actress Nadia Buari. Information from the grapevine has it on good authority that both artistes don’t see eye to eye again as they are involved in personality clash over who should date the talented actress from President Atta Mills country. Only recently friends of Femi and Fally Pupa have gone public over their principal’s love interest in the actress and how the other side is trying to spoil a good love interest that is gradually building up. For now however, only Nadia can authoritatively come out to say who actually owns her heart as the battle between Femi and Fally Pupa gathers momentum.
